Dr. Laura McGuire The National Center for Equity and Agency
Dr. Laura McGuire is an internationally recognized consultant, survivor, researcher, seminarian, and author of the book Creating Cultures of Consent (Rowman & Littlefield, 2021). Their experience includes both public and private sectors, middle schools, high schools, and university settings. In 2015, they served as the first Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Program Manager at the University of Houston, and in 2017, they became the first Victim Advocate/Prevention Educator at the US Merchant Marine Academy. Dr. McGuire is currently an adjunct professor at Widener University.
They are a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Society of Professional Consultants, and teach at Widener University. They are currently a fellow with the Institute for Social Innovation and attending seminary at Earlham School of Religion. Dr. McGuire lives in the Palm Coast, Florida, where they work as a full-time consultant at The National Center for Equity and Agency.
